Finding time for an online part time job when your day job and family life is too demanding

For many, the demands of the real world interfere greatly with the desire to start working an online part time job. Family, full time jobs, school, and other obligations of everyday life don’t leave us much free time for anything – let alone starting a business online. How do you find the time to take on additional work? With a little bit of creativity and flexibility, it’s not that hard to do.

The trick is to work on your online job during the “cracks” in your day. These cracks are something that we all have – the times when we aren’t doing anything productive (between meetings, eating lunch, the last 30 minutes of the day before bed). No matter how busy you claim to be, there are always cracks that can be filled with an income-producing task.

If you are unsure where to start, begin by making a list of what you do every day, hour by hour. It’s best to do this using a weekly calendar, where you can list your activities and tasks as they happen. Even if you think you don’t have any time to spare, seeing everything listed out in front of you might be very revealing. Everyone has cracks in their schedule.

We live in a mobile world – take advantage of that

This is an amazing time for anyone with a desire to start an online business. With our smartphones and tablets, we are always connected and available to do business 24 hours a day, from literally any place on earth. There’s no excuse not to use these devices as tools in which to earn money.

With a smartphone (or a tablet), you could easily work on internet-based part time jobs such as these from wherever you happen to be:

I’m not suggesting that you work every waking minute of your life. What I am suggesting, however, is that you try to identify the times in the day in which you aren’t really doing anything productive and to reallocate that time to work online. Perhaps you have 30 minutes in the morning before your kids wake up for school – or you always spend your time on Facebook between classes. Identify what you can eliminate! The more serious you are about working part time online, the more time you will find to work on your project(s). And that’s a fact.
