Ok, I know it’s been a while since I posted last, but I have been working a bit on my web empire. Not a whole lot – I pretty much took all of November and December off, but I have made quite a bit of progress since my last update.
So how is my “one website one day” plan going? I’ll be honest…it hasn’t been going well. I only stuck to it for a few weeks before throwing the towel in on it, mostly because I felt like I was getting nowhere trying to work on so many websites (8) at once. Additionally, only working on one thing at a time seemed glacially slow..and overwhelming. I was always thinking I wasn’t doing enough, which I admit was a stupid way to think. Something is always better than nothing, especially considering that plan was more productive than my usual method of working myself to exhaustion then not doing anything for several months at a time. Not only is that unproductive, it’s unhealthy. Consistently working little by little is the only way that I’m going to get anywhere with my web empire.
So, the big question is: how did I do last year in terms of website traffic? As of this morning, I honestly had no idea – and I was curious to crunch the numbers. I knew that I haven’t seen enormous growth year over year, as some websites in my empire have fallen off, while others have easily doubled in daily visits. So, let’s cut right to it – here is a chart of the my monthly traffic of all of my websites (combined) for the last four Decembers:
Nothing too impressive, I know, but there is some growth there. I should point out that I’m not actively marketing ANY of these websites – I do tinker around on social media every now and then but for the most part, this is organic search engine traffic.
Next, here is a slightly more detailed chart showing how all of my websites compare. Some receive a lot more traffic than others, but the general trend is up:
I’ve decided to go back on my “one website one day” plan for at least all of 2015, so hopefully I’ll see better year over year gains this time next year. I also know that I could increase these numbers quite a bit if I was more active on social media, but…I hate social media, and it’s hard to get motivated. But that’s a topic for another post.
